Introduces girls in grades 2-4 to the world of choral music.
Membership is by audition and is appropriate for girls who reading at the second grade level or above (English, not music!), can enjoy sitting attentively through a 1-hour rehearsal, and have good pitch.
Applicants are not expected to have any previous musical training.
Is a teaching choir. Girls will learn to sight sing and follow Kodaly hand signals, which will enhance their skills in learning music of various genres and languages.
Emphasis is on the enjoyment and learning gained from regular weekly practices, as opposed to frequent performances.
Performs in a school tour for one day in the spring, as well as our Holiday Concert in December and Spring Concert in May.

The next step for girls in grades 4-6.
Girls are placed into the apprentice choir when they have developed the level of vocal talent and understanding of music theory required to sing more complex musical literature.
More mature behavior is expected from girls in this choir.
Choral scores have more parts and lyrics are often in foreign languages.
Like the Lyric Choir, the focus here is on musical and voice training, as well as developing poise, confidence and choral style.
Performs in a school tour for one day in the spring, a Holiday Concert and Spring Concert.
May perform more often if appropriate bookings are available.
